It’s officially December, which means the holidays are here. Christmas is right around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll observe the merry holiday this season. Here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet, we are prone to liking vehicle-related activities, so we came up with this list of car-themed ways to celebrate the holidays:
- Take a holiday road trip: Pack up the car and hit the road. The holidays are the perfect time to go see family and friends you don’t get to see very often. Whether it’s a short trip to a nearby city or a cross-country trip to distant relatives, you will love the destination — and likely the drive to and from.
- Drive through a light display: Most major cities offer several holiday light displays, many of which are drive-through displays. Blast your favorite Christmas music as you ooh and ahh at the lights with your family. If there are no displays nearby, just drive around residential areas to see the lights put up by everyday people.
- Decorate your car: Get festive with your car this holiday season, perhaps with a red Rudolph nose up front or your favorite ornament hanging from your rearview mirror.

Are you thinking of going on a road trip that allows you to hit 48 states at once? Well, Chevrolet has already mapped out the perfect trip plan for you. The American carmaker recently released a road trip itinerary that allows you to see 48 of the nation’s most popular tourist attractions—all in a single trip.
The Chevrolet 48-state road trip itinerary was created alongside data scientist Randy Olson. The partnership came up with a route that covers the most famous family attractions in the United States, usually with a single stop in each state. For instance, you can hit Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, Graceland in Tennessee, Yellowstone National Park, and the Grand Canyon. You can even hit the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore in our great state of Michigan.
This itinerary was created after Chevrolet completed a survey which indicated that families’ two favorite aspects of road trips are spending time with family and getting the opportunity to explore new places. It was assembled to create the least amount of backtracking throughout the journey, giving the most efficient routes to each destination.
Overall, the route itself would take an estimated nine days of driving. With the need to sleep, get snacks, and fuel up, it’s likely this trip could stretch into three weeks, which makes it perfect for your next summer family adventure.
