Chevrolet engineers are always setting new standards in the industry. In fact, the brand recently announced the 2019 Corvette ZR1, which will be the fastest production car ever made. This impressive and unparalleled sports car comes with an exclusive engine, the latest technologies, and a distinct look. For true car lovers, the Corvette ZR1 may just be the perfect car.
This special Corvette has a LT5 supercharged engine that gets up to 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. Chevy notes that there’s also a seven-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed paddle-shift automatic, while the new High Wing option creates up to 950 pounds of downforce. Every inch of the new ZR1 is designed with speed in mind.
“I’ve never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has either, because there’s never been one like this before,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development. “Its unprecedented performance puts all other global supercars on notice that the ZR1 is back.”
The ZR1 also comes with a distinct carbon-fiber “halo” hood that’s built to be lightweight, as well as a specially tuned suspension. With the proper equipment, the new ZR1 will go over 210 mph on the track. Plus, there’s a special Sebring Orange Design Package for those who want a truly unique Corvette.
The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Family, friends, and food are a few things that immediately come to mind. For many, this list also includes the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Televised from 9am to noon EST, around 3.5 million people tune in with their loved ones to watch. Another 2,000 people take part in the parade itself, including the drivers of the floats we love. Here’s a few fun facts about driving in the Macy’s Day Parade.
Have you ever wondered who the people behind the wheel of these floats are? They are union members of New York City’s Theatrical Teamsters.
The parade begins in Manhattan, but the floats themselves are built and kept in Moonachie, New Jersey, and must be able to be deconstructed to more manageable pieces so they are able to be lugged through Lincoln Tunnel and into New York City. This trip begins around ten hours before the start of the actual parade itself: approximately 50 trailers are employed to transport everything and get it safely to the parade’s starting point.
Following the parade, the process is repeated in reverse. The floats are broken down once more and transported back to New Jersey, and the drivers of the trailers join the throngs of people in holiday traffic heading home to their loved ones for Thanksgiving dinner.
From the first float of the turkey to the last float of Santa, it’s truly the drivers who keep the parade going. While watching the parade this year, know that we at Buff Whelan Chevrolet are watching as well.
Every year, the city of Sterling Heights comes together to put on one of the most exciting summer festivals in the state of Michigan. This summer, Sterlingfest will be held July 27-29.
This is the 37th annual Sterlingfest. Just like previous years, this year will be packed with summertime fun including an arts & crafts fair, lots of live music, a family midway with rides and game, and tons of the best fair food you have been waiting for all year. The festival has funnel cakes, hand-crafted ice cream, and all the fried foods you can imagine.
At the arts & crafts show, visitors can browse works from numerous local artists including watercolor painting, photographs, sculptures, and more. Artists display their work with many of their pieces available for sale. The show is set in the heart of Sterling Heights and has a street-fair-feel. All around the art booths, visitors can hear live music from the jazz and blues stage.
Here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet, we love taking our families to Sterlingfest each summer and look forward to seeing many of our friends and loyal customers there, too. What is your favorite thing about Sterlingfest in Sterling Heights, MI?
Since the beginning, Chevrolet has called Detroit home, which is why it made perfect sense for Chevrolet and Little Caesar’s Arena to join forces. Chevrolet is now the official vehicle of the brand new Little Caesar’s Arena, home to the Detroit Red Wings, concerts, and other entertainment. Since 2015, Chevrolet has been the official vehicle for the Detroit Red Wings.
Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, said, “We look forward to continuing to support the Red Wings and the revitalization of our hometown, the City of Detroit, as a landmark partner in the new Little Caesars Arena — a perfect complement to our partnership with the Detroit Tigers and presence at Comerica Park.”
With this expanded partnership, Chevrolet will have an even bigger presence at the arena. The northeast entrance, along Woodward Avenue, will feature large-scale Chevrolet branding. In addition, there will be a new Chevrolet Plaza with a giant video screen that will be used for community programming and concerts.
Visitors to the arena will be able to spot the Chevrolet brand and distinctive bowtie throughout the venue, including being one of four in ice partners.
The team here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Sterling Heights, MI is excited about this new partnership between Chevrolet and Little Caesar’s Arena and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
