For a long time, it was typical to see the Ford Mustang on top in terms of monthly sales, and not far behind that was the Dodge Challenger. Due to its killer combination of incredible performance, stunning style, and overall value, however, the new Chevrolet Camaro is causing quite a stir as it disrupts this familiar sales trend. Outselling both the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger toward the end of 2017, the success of the new Chevrolet Camaro shows no signs of slowing down as 2018 rolls on.
In the face of overall muscle car sales declining toward the end of last year, and a huge 27.24% decline in the usually-popular Ford Mustang, 2018 Chevrolet Camaro sales are still going strong. This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as the Chevrolet Camaro delivers more of what is most important to modern drivers, including exhilarating performance, premium safety features, and more standard advanced technology features.
The Ford Mustang might have a legendary past, but it’s current offering are falling a little flat when compared to the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, which boasts standard Drive Mode Selector, a 7-inch infotainment display, standard automatic climate control technology, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, all of which are absent in the 2018 Ford Mustang.
The Camaro is quickly becoming a crowd favorite. To see other reasons why Camaro is surging in popularity, visit Buff Whelan Chevrolet to get behind the wheel for a test drive.
Peeking inside the newest version of the Chevy Bolt and noticing that there is in fact neither steering wheel nor pedals, you might be inclined to wonder, “How am I supposed to drive this thing?”
The simple answer is: you’re not supposed to drive it, because it drives itself.
Chevrolet recently sought approval from the government to test a batch of autonomous (driverless) vehicles. These driverless Chevy Bolts have been designed with no steering wheel, no gas pedal, and no brake pedal. In order to meet NHTSA safety standards, a new autonomous vehicle must be tested with and without a driver—a hard requirement to meet when there’s no steering wheel inside.
This recent development coincides with GM’s announcement that it intends to have driverless vehicles transporting people and cargo in certain cities as soon as 2019.
GM purchased the start-up autonomous driving company Cruise Automation in the spring of 2016 and has since worked with them to develop four iterations of a driverless Chevy Bolt EV. The newest generation, in addition to lacking the once-essential pedals and wheel, will also feature automatically opening doors.
While don’t have any driverless Chevy Bolts for sale here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet, we do have a selection of brand-new Bolt EVs that are ready for you to drive home.
Chevrolet engineers are always setting new standards in the industry. In fact, the brand recently announced the 2019 Corvette ZR1, which will be the fastest production car ever made. This impressive and unparalleled sports car comes with an exclusive engine, the latest technologies, and a distinct look. For true car lovers, the Corvette ZR1 may just be the perfect car.
This special Corvette has a LT5 supercharged engine that gets up to 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. Chevy notes that there’s also a seven-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed paddle-shift automatic, while the new High Wing option creates up to 950 pounds of downforce. Every inch of the new ZR1 is designed with speed in mind.
“I’ve never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has either, because there’s never been one like this before,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development. “Its unprecedented performance puts all other global supercars on notice that the ZR1 is back.”
The ZR1 also comes with a distinct carbon-fiber “halo” hood that’s built to be lightweight, as well as a specially tuned suspension. With the proper equipment, the new ZR1 will go over 210 mph on the track. Plus, there’s a special Sebring Orange Design Package for those who want a truly unique Corvette.
Hurricane Irma took quite the toll on the Florida coast, particularly the Treasure Coast region. Natural disasters tend to bring out the best in people of all ages and backgrounds. That rings true for Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD owner Justin Drawdy. He and his heavy duty truck are doing their part to aid those impacted by Hurricane Irma.
Drawdy and his Silverado 2500 HD started their adventure helping out Texans who were hit by Hurricane Harvey. Upon returning to his Florida home, he put boards on his own home and then helped his neighbors do the same.
Soon after, Hurricane Irma struck in full force.
On Sunday, September 10th, Drawdy took his Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD to check on one of his offices. The 35-inch tires and six-inch lift were more than enough to forge his way through the flooded areas. From there, he went on to help a woman rescue her beloved dog from her apartment. He loaded both the dog and the cage into the truck bed and, as it turns out, Drawdy was just getting started.
The man and his tough truck went on to haul eight cars from the floodwaters of a nearby area before taking the woman and her dog to her office.
For years, Chevrolet has used the SS as its go-to NASCAR vehicle. However, with production of the SS ending, it was time for a new choice. Recently, Chevrolet unveiled its 2018 Camaro ZL1 NASCAR Cup car to a gathering of NASCAR fans and drivers, including Jimmie Johnson, who drives the #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.
“The new Camaro ZL1 is a great-looking race car with a lot of heritage behind it, which will make it a big hit with fans,” said Johnson. “And as someone who’s enjoyed the ZL1 on the street, I’m really looking forward to getting this new race car on the track.”
The Camaro ZL1 will make its NASCAR debut in February 2018 during the Daytona Speedweeks at the start of the 2018 NASCAR season.
This won’t be the first NASCAR Camaro, as Chevrolet currently uses a Camaro SS for the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In addition, early ZL1 models was a powerhouse in street racing competitions. This new model will hopefully send drivers to the podium with its supercharged 650-horsepower engine.
We are excited to see what the Camaro ZL1 can accomplish on the NASCAR track. You can drive away in your own Camaro, available now at Buff Whelan Chevrolet.

Since the beginning, Chevrolet has called Detroit home, which is why it made perfect sense for Chevrolet and Little Caesar’s Arena to join forces. Chevrolet is now the official vehicle of the brand new Little Caesar’s Arena, home to the Detroit Red Wings, concerts, and other entertainment. Since 2015, Chevrolet has been the official vehicle for the Detroit Red Wings.
Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, said, “We look forward to continuing to support the Red Wings and the revitalization of our hometown, the City of Detroit, as a landmark partner in the new Little Caesars Arena — a perfect complement to our partnership with the Detroit Tigers and presence at Comerica Park.”
With this expanded partnership, Chevrolet will have an even bigger presence at the arena. The northeast entrance, along Woodward Avenue, will feature large-scale Chevrolet branding. In addition, there will be a new Chevrolet Plaza with a giant video screen that will be used for community programming and concerts.
Visitors to the arena will be able to spot the Chevrolet brand and distinctive bowtie throughout the venue, including being one of four in ice partners.
The team here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Sterling Heights, MI is excited about this new partnership between Chevrolet and Little Caesar’s Arena and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
The FNR-X is a plug-in hybrid, and with its stunning looks and high-tech design, Chevy promises features to match. Chevy calls the FNR-X an “all-purpose sports concept vehicle,” the FNR-X is much closer to being a production model than the FNR concept it debuted at the 2015 Auto Shanghai. Chevy produced both the FNR and the FNR-X in conjunction with the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center. FNR stands for “Find New Roads.”
The FNR-X features dynamic digital LED headlights, a gold bowtie emblem, active grille shutters, and rear-hinged doors that can be controlled automatically. It even replaces the mirrors with high-tech cameras for better, more reliable visibility, and side skirts that move when you change driving mode.
The FNR-X’s interior is also luxurious, with high-tech fabrics and a sport steering wheel, but there’s not much more we know about it yet. Find out more about the FNR-X concept or Chevy’s other concept cars at Buff Whelan Chevrolet!
General Motors is rolling with the “go big or go home” motto when it comes to the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro. It wasn’t long ago that Chevrolet revealed the Camaro ZL1 1LE performance model, but now the American automaker is upping the ante. The track-oriented model is set to make its official debut at the Pirelli World Challenge. Two Camaro GT4.Rs will take the track with Tony Gaples and Lawson Aschenback behind the wheels.
