Getting into the spirit of Halloween usually means putting up some spooky decorations and getting a bowl of candy for the kids. As it turns out, you can dress more than just yourself in a creative costume this year. Check out these creative ways to dress up your car for Halloween from our team here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet.
There’s little point in just tossing decorations on your car. Pick a theme first and go from there. Drivers with black cars, for example, might don their vehicle with some decorations to make it look like the Batmobile. Those with white cars can go the ghost route. Those are just two options; there are dozens of famous cars and decorative themes to choose from!
Before you start decorating, make sure your Halloween touches aren’t going to hinder the safety of yourself or other drivers. Be sure your decorations are secure and don’t block your view of the windows and mirrors.
If you don’t plan on driving your car, however, you can do whatever you please. Attach legs to make it a giant spider or tack on some add-ons that bring a more creative costume to your driveway.
If you aren’t planning on going all out on your car’s Halloween costume, consider some simple decorations. Halloween-themed decals and magnets will do the trick. They’re cheap and show that you’re feeling the spirit of the holiday.
Hurricane Irma took quite the toll on the Florida coast, particularly the Treasure Coast region. Natural disasters tend to bring out the best in people of all ages and backgrounds. That rings true for Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD owner Justin Drawdy. He and his heavy duty truck are doing their part to aid those impacted by Hurricane Irma.
Drawdy and his Silverado 2500 HD started their adventure helping out Texans who were hit by Hurricane Harvey. Upon returning to his Florida home, he put boards on his own home and then helped his neighbors do the same.
Soon after, Hurricane Irma struck in full force.
On Sunday, September 10th, Drawdy took his Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD to check on one of his offices. The 35-inch tires and six-inch lift were more than enough to forge his way through the flooded areas. From there, he went on to help a woman rescue her beloved dog from her apartment. He loaded both the dog and the cage into the truck bed and, as it turns out, Drawdy was just getting started.
The man and his tough truck went on to haul eight cars from the floodwaters of a nearby area before taking the woman and her dog to her office.
For years, Chevrolet has used the SS as its go-to NASCAR vehicle. However, with production of the SS ending, it was time for a new choice. Recently, Chevrolet unveiled its 2018 Camaro ZL1 NASCAR Cup car to a gathering of NASCAR fans and drivers, including Jimmie Johnson, who drives the #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.
“The new Camaro ZL1 is a great-looking race car with a lot of heritage behind it, which will make it a big hit with fans,” said Johnson. “And as someone who’s enjoyed the ZL1 on the street, I’m really looking forward to getting this new race car on the track.”
The Camaro ZL1 will make its NASCAR debut in February 2018 during the Daytona Speedweeks at the start of the 2018 NASCAR season.
This won’t be the first NASCAR Camaro, as Chevrolet currently uses a Camaro SS for the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In addition, early ZL1 models was a powerhouse in street racing competitions. This new model will hopefully send drivers to the podium with its supercharged 650-horsepower engine.
We are excited to see what the Camaro ZL1 can accomplish on the NASCAR track. You can drive away in your own Camaro, available now at Buff Whelan Chevrolet.
Every year, on the first Monday in September, our country celebrates Labor Day. But, do you know where Labor Day got its start or what it commemorates? Here is a brief history of Labor Day and some special ways you can celebrate it.
It is unclear who first suggested the idea for Labor Day. However, on September 5, 1882, the Central Labor Union in New York City held its first Labor Day. This day celebrated hardworking Americans, and the “holiday” quickly spread across the country.
On June 28, 1894, Congress officially named the first Monday in September a legal holiday. However, most states had already passed their own Labor Day laws by this time.
These days, many communities host parades or other events for Labor Day, and many families hold one last summer barbecue with family and friends. While these are fantastic ways to celebrate, if you want to really tune-in to the spirit of the holiday, you can patronize local businesses, plan a tour of a local factory or farm, or share some treats with your local fire or police station.
Fall is right around the corner which means the kids will soon be heading back to school for another year. Summer can significantly impact your preparedness when the school year officially starts. We here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet have some back-to-school prep that can help you get into the swing of things this fall!
Start things off by establishing a daily routine. Hanging a list of things for the kids to check off in the morning allows you to track their progress and get them to school on time. Have a second list of things for them to do at night in preparation for the next day. Establishing a routine is essential to a child’s success in school.
Kids hate doing their homework, but it’s a necessity for them to learn the material and pass their classes. Establish a study area with plenty of essential materials like pencils, pens, paper, and post-it notes. Doing so will allow children to get into the groove and get their homework done efficiently while sharpening their skills (and pencils) along the way.
Planners are good for helping children keep track of their homework and keep you in tune with what’s going on at school. Plus, it can help you keep track of things that you need to do during the chaos that is the school year!
The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro is already known to be a powerhouse designed to tackle the toughest beasts that the road has to offer. Tearing past the competition with an ear-shattering roar in a blur is what the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE does best. In fact, it performs well enough to top Ferrari at the world’s most notorious track.
Germany’s Nurburgring, otherwise known as the Ring, track is known for helping establish benchmarks for the fastest vehicles on the planet. The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE recently took on the 12.9-mile circuit with an epic finish.
The upcoming performance-driven muscle car not only ran the circuit faster than any Corvette, but it beat out all of the Ferraris as well. Posting a time of just 7:16:04, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE become the 14th fastest production car.
For comparison, the Ferrari 488 GTB posted a time of around 7:21. The last Corvette, a 2012 ZR1, to run the circuit completed it with a time of 7:19:63.
The Camaro ZL1 1LE packs a supercharged V8 engine that delivers 650 horsepower. An aerodynamic package, giant wing and all, helps cut through wind resistance and optimize performance.
We here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet are pumped to get behind the wheel of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE!

Since the beginning, Chevrolet has called Detroit home, which is why it made perfect sense for Chevrolet and Little Caesar’s Arena to join forces. Chevrolet is now the official vehicle of the brand new Little Caesar’s Arena, home to the Detroit Red Wings, concerts, and other entertainment. Since 2015, Chevrolet has been the official vehicle for the Detroit Red Wings.
Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, said, “We look forward to continuing to support the Red Wings and the revitalization of our hometown, the City of Detroit, as a landmark partner in the new Little Caesars Arena — a perfect complement to our partnership with the Detroit Tigers and presence at Comerica Park.”
With this expanded partnership, Chevrolet will have an even bigger presence at the arena. The northeast entrance, along Woodward Avenue, will feature large-scale Chevrolet branding. In addition, there will be a new Chevrolet Plaza with a giant video screen that will be used for community programming and concerts.
Visitors to the arena will be able to spot the Chevrolet brand and distinctive bowtie throughout the venue, including being one of four in ice partners.
The team here at Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Sterling Heights, MI is excited about this new partnership between Chevrolet and Little Caesar’s Arena and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Sterling Heights is home to the General Motors Heritage Center, our personal favorite and one of the coolest places you can visit in Michigan. Detroit is focal point of American automotive history and shaped the culture here, so visiting the GM Heritage Center and seeing the history of how one of the biggest American automakers came to be is fascinating. You’ll see classic cars, historical exhibits, and much more.
That’s not all Sterling Heights has to offer, though. Nature lovers will enjoy a trip to the Sterling Heights Nature Center, where you can see all kinds of flora and fauna. If you’re visiting with kids, they’ll love the Kart 2 Kart go-kart center and the AirTime Trampoline and Game Park.
Finally, there are tons of good places to eat in Sterling Heights, like Rosie O’Grady’s and Mackenzie’s Tavern, where you can also go to drink and watch whatever game is on. The Island Bar and Grill is another good place to eat.
At Buff Whelan Chevrolet we’re proud to work in a place that’s so central to the state’s history as well as Chevrolet’s. We hope to see you here soon!
The FNR-X is a plug-in hybrid, and with its stunning looks and high-tech design, Chevy promises features to match. Chevy calls the FNR-X an “all-purpose sports concept vehicle,” the FNR-X is much closer to being a production model than the FNR concept it debuted at the 2015 Auto Shanghai. Chevy produced both the FNR and the FNR-X in conjunction with the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center. FNR stands for “Find New Roads.”
The FNR-X features dynamic digital LED headlights, a gold bowtie emblem, active grille shutters, and rear-hinged doors that can be controlled automatically. It even replaces the mirrors with high-tech cameras for better, more reliable visibility, and side skirts that move when you change driving mode.
The FNR-X’s interior is also luxurious, with high-tech fabrics and a sport steering wheel, but there’s not much more we know about it yet. Find out more about the FNR-X concept or Chevy’s other concept cars at Buff Whelan Chevrolet!
