The Chevrolet Suburban has never before offered a V8 engine in its lineup—until now. For the 2019 model year, Chevy has decided to add a 420-horsepower V8 to the Suburban thanks to its all-new RST Performance Package.
This package, which originally made its debut last spring on the Tahoe RST, will give you the option to add a 6.5-liter V8 engine to your Suburban. This will come paired to a Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission, putting out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, this engine will give your Suburban a maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds.
“When you want to hustle, the Suburban RST with the Performance Package offers high levels of acceleration, braking, and road-holding grip,” said Eric Stanczak, Chevrolet’s chief engineer for full-size trucks. “When you want to relax, it is very refined with exceptional ride comfort and interior quietness.”
Other features for the RST Performance Package include Magnetic Ride Control with performance calibration, 22-inch wheels, a body-color grille, and gloss-black accessories, including Chevy bowties, window trim, and roof rails.
You’re even able to customize the package with other features like a Performance Dual-Side Exit exhaust system and a performance brake package. The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban and this performance package will be available in dealerships later this summer. Test drive it for yourself when it arrives at Buff Whelan Chevrolet.
